Naturi Naughton is one of those creators who never stopped repping where she came from. Born and raised in Newark, she's built a career that spans music, television and film - all while keeping her roots deep in Brick City. Whether you know her from her days as part of the R&B group 3LW or her powerful role in the hit series 'Power,' Naturi has proven that you can make it big without forgetting home.
Growing up in the Lincoln Park area, Naturi developed the kind of grit and determination that defines Newark's creative spirit. That foundation shaped everything she'd go on to accomplish, from her early success in the music industry to becoming a recognizable face on one of television's most talked-about shows.
A Career Built on Talent and Persistence
Her journey started with music. As a member of 3LW, Naturi helped define the late 1990s R&B sound. The group brought energy, style and vocal talent that resonated with listeners everywhere. But Naturi didn't stop there - she understood that growth meant taking risks and exploring new creative territories.
The transition from music to acting wasn't just a career move; it was an expansion of her artistry. Naturi brought the same commitment to her acting roles that she brought to the recording studio. Her work in 'Power' showed audiences a different side of her abilities, proving that her talent extended far beyond what many knew from her music career. She became part of a cast that captivated millions of viewers and helped establish the series as a cultural moment.
